A Message from the Dean

In an era of increasingly specialized divisions of labor, the fragmentation of knowledge and the blurring of what is real and what is virtual have become some of the key challenges we face. To pursue an ideal state of knowledge, we must break down disciplinary boundaries and engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration—piecing ideas together through interaction and mutual enrichment. As we all understand, the power of knowledge lies not only in academic depth, but also in how it engages with the real world and guides us forward.

Against this backdrop, we must apply our expertise in science, technology, and the humanities with care, using it to enhance social well-being. Upholding Chung Yuan Christian University’s philosophy of “holistic education,” the College firmly believes that the purpose of education is to help each individual discover their own core values and achieve holistic growth through the balance of heaven, humanity, nature, and self. This is our core value and a shared aspiration of all our faculty and students.

We will continue to promote the deep integration of academic research and practice, particularly in the areas of digital humanities, interdisciplinary education, and global perspectives. Moving beyond the confines of traditional classrooms, we will create more diverse and flexible learning approaches, enabling every student to find their own place to thrive within this fertile academic environment and achieve personal growth. We hope that every faculty member and student will become a leader of innovation and change—boldly challenging the status quo and exploring the future through teaching, research, and social engagement.
